STURGIS –Congratulations to all the Meade County 4-H members that participated in the SD State 4-H Shooting Sports competition in Pierre in April. Meade County was well represented with sixty-seven kids participating in over 100 events such as Archery, BB gun, Air Rifle, and Air Pistol.
Top placers were Reid Osberg – 2nd place in CWSR, Carter Salmon – 3rd place in CWSR, Carter Salmon- 3rd place in C-Open, Reid Osberg – 2nd Place C-Open 3D, Clay Whitehead 5th Place Air Pistol Rapid Fire.
The team of Reid Osberg, Carter Salmon, Gage Whitehead, and Hunter Rhoden received 1st place in CWSR, and the teams of Carter Salmon, Hunter Rhoden, Tance Spring, and Ruger Spring received 1st place in C-Open.
The team of JD Heeren, Carter Salmon, Clay Whitehead, and Andrew Winter earned 2nd place in RWOS. Complete results for all participants can be found at

The summer program for shotgun will start in June and end with the state shooting competition in September. These 3 boys will be representing Meade County at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska June 21-26.
Gage Whitehead and Reid Osberg will be competition in archery and Clay Whitehead will be participating in shotgun.
