STURGIS — Editor’s Note: Meade 46-1 school board president Justin Jutting clarified some things about Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt’s raises. I incorrectly stated Wormstadt received no raises in three years but he did receive raises, but they were lower than other staff received. After that the raise was on par with staff. In 2025 Wormstadt wanted no raise but Jutting asked for a half percent increase for him. I apologize for the error.

The Meade 46-1 school board finished up its meeting May 11 by approving some needed motions.

First was the approval of Casey Peterson and Associates to conduct an audit of district finances for the 2025-2026 school year.

Next wage and benefits adjustments for staff was approved for sports staff, licensed staff professionals and supervisory staff, administrative staff and superintendent.
It was here that board president Justin Jutting stated his support for a small wage increase for superintendent Wayne Wormstadt.

“I wanted to put something in here, Wayne asked for a zero percent increase, Brett asked for a zero percent increase and I went to Wayne and told him that as a district that is not a logical move. Everyone else’s salary is increasing so you will see that all administrative staff and essentially all of our staff got the same increase and we did a .5 percent increase for Mr. Wormstadt,” he said.

Jutting added the outcome of the budget process is not the fault of Wormstadt and the deserves an increase because he’s done everything he’s been asked to do.
He went on to say that Wormstadt has had no increases in three years.

The board also approved the contract agreement with the Meade Education Association for teachers.

Work at Woodle Field will begin soon to replace grass on the field and Bergman Construction was approved to excavate the turf. So the board approved the company to do that.
