The Sturgis City Council took yet another look at the rally sponsorship program at its meeting June 15th. City Administrator Aaron Jordan reminded the body where things are.
“This resolution had been before the council several times and have received some feedback from interested community members. Right now we have three options we were looking at based on this report, a national specialized agency to take care of third party sponsorships, or local for profit or local nonprofit,” he said.
Mayor Rod Bradley stated that it seemed time to have city legal contractor Eric Davis draft a request for proposal that would be broad enough to allow a national agency or a local for profit to present those proposals and help them decide what the best fit is. He added excluding nonprofits doesn’t mean they don’t have that option if the need it.
Ward 2 councilor Tony Dargatz mentioned including all three types of companies in the request for proposals to round out the options.
Ward 2 councilor Mark Chaplin stated utilizing a national agency or a local for profit group and then getting close to what they want to streamlining the two into one so it will work.
A motion was made to approve using request for proposals for a national agency and a for profit group. It was seconded and passed unanimously.
