By Brandon Bennett STURGIS—After barely a month after Harley Davidsons took over the town of Sturgis, Mustangs took their turn and flooded the streets. 60 years’ worth of design, innovation and history is on display during the Show and Shine on Main Street. Doug Drewes with Event Moto, a company tasked with creating the vibe for the rally, said this is the biggest one yet. “We’ve been tracking this for the last five years and during Covid the trend was going down, about 20 percent each year. This year we’ve gained all that back and then some,” he said. Drewes added that while the Mustang Rally started 20 years ago locally, owners come from all over the U.S. We asked if Mustangs are gradually becoming only for the wealthy. “It depends there are so many different models of Mustangs that are out so a college kid might be able to afford a basic model up to the GTD which runs several hundred thousand dollars,” said Drewes. The cars are being judged by a panel and Drewes said what it boils down to is cleanliness. Another event is the Heather Storm meet and greet at Rally Point Plaza from noon until two pm. Storm is a social media personality who just happens to love Mustangs too.
